Vibration Isolation of marine engines
If you are planning a midsummer trip in the Stockholm archipelago you can take one of the boats MS Sjögull or MS Sjöbris. You will get a smooth and silent journey as these have recently been renovated; the engines are suspended on Vibratec marine isolators VT41XX (spring isolators) with the gear boxes on cushion isolators type VTCI.
A soft engine suspension with springs requires separate stiff and progressive mounts under the gear box (to take up the torque and thrust). Vibratec can assist with calculations of the propulsion driveline on mobile applications taking roll/pitch/heave into account as well as forces from propeller thrust and engine torque.
The ships MS Sjöbris and MS Sjögull have 3 main engines each type Scania DI13. Also the exhaust pipes and silencers are suspended in Vibratec mounts. The ship owner is Blidösundsbolaget.
