Advanced Acoustic Solutions for Dansens Hus by Vibratec  

Folkets Hus in Stockholm, home to Dansens Hus, has recently undergone extensive renovation and modernization.

The “Little Theater”, adjacent to the “Main Scene”, needed better sound insulation to minimize disturbances (from outside as well as from the “Little Theater” itself). A room-in-room solution was installed where Vibratec delivered our floating floor system VT-BAT, incorporating nine different types of stiffnesses to manage the varying loads from partition walls, steel structures, stairs, and telescopic seating. Additionally, a suspended ceiling with low resonance frequency was needed. The ceiling was made with heavy steel beams suspended with 60 pieces VT4524-4X spring hangers – each hanger carrying approx. 2.000 kg.

Both the floating floor and suspended ceiling were designed with multiple layers to ensure optimal performance. The floating floor was installed atop a wooden framework and included layers of mineral wool, gypsum floorboards, impact sound mats, chipboard, and a customized outer dance floor designed for heavy use. This multi-layered construction added significant weight, which was carefully accounted for in the design. Similarly, the suspended ceiling consisted of several layers, including gypsum boards and Cembrit panels, all secured with steel beams to handle the high load.

Our solutions ensure minimal sound and vibration transfer between spaces, meeting strict acoustic requirements and enhancing the experience for both performers and audiences. We are proud to have contributed to the modernization of this vital cultural venue.
